Web Search for iPhone and iPod Touch
Available now on iTunes
A feature that should have been included in the first place!
Searching the web on your iPhone or iPod Touch is fast and convenient with this native web search application. Just launch, type your search term, and your results appear immediately in an easy to read list with a built in preview.
The fastest way to search
Safari is an excellent general purpose web browser, but it's not the most convenient choice for searching on the web. Most search pages are busy and hard to read on the iPhone's small screen. Tiny links, too many choices, and fat fingers make a simple web search harder than it needs to be. And if you are on a slow network connection, you have to wait for the entire page to load before you can use it.
Web Search simplifies the search process this by talking to the search providers directly, then collecting the search results and displaying them in a simple list, just like e-mail. Tap the search icon, type your search term, and your results appear instantly. Far faster, easier to read, and simpler then going through the web browser.
Page through your search results
Tap on any search result to view the web page with the Web Search application's embeded web browser. In the web preview window, tap the up and down arrows to page through the results one at a time, just like reading your e-mail. Once you've found something you like you can jump to it in Safari with a click. Even better, your results are saved and appear instantly next time your run the application.
Get a second opinion with multiple search providers
Didn't find what you were looking for? Web Search has built in support for multiple providers like Yahoo! Search and Live Search from Microsoft. Just click the appropriate tab and your search is repeated in an alternate provider. No preferences to change, you don't even have to leave the screen.
